Virginie Ledoyen Facts
She adopted her stage name “Ledoyen” from her maternal grandmother’s maiden name. Her grandmother was also a stage actress.
Virginie was just 2 years old when she began appearing in commercials for television.
She made her debut feature film appearance as Berta in What Every Frenchwoman Wants in 1986. She was just 10 years old at the time.
In 1988, she was cast in her first TV show La vie en panne.
In 1999, she was made the brand ambassador for L’Oréal, which ultimately led to her being cast in The Beach (2000), starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
Virginie got her film breakthrough in A Single Girl (1995) for which she earned a nomination for César Award for “Most Promising Actress”. She went on to be nominated two more times for her work in Les marmottes (1993) and L’eau froide (1994).
