Video of Mike McDaniel surfaces of when he was a Broncos ball boy ... and fans say he looks like Pet

Mike McDaniel's impressive rise to becoming one of the most outstanding offensive coaches of the NFL has at times proved to be perplexing for fans, especially given the Miami Dolphins head coach had a difficult time as a player and ultimately failed to make it to the NFL.

McDaniel's spent three years playing college football at Yale from 2001-2004 but it soon became clear that he didn't have a future as a pro ball player. His physical limitations have been attributed as one of the main reasons as to why he never made it to the very top. "I would guess that Mike was probably about 150 pounds - and he didn't really run really fast either," admitted his coach at Yale Jack Siedlecki in an interview with the Athletic.

Despite his evident lack of physical prowess, it was clear from the get-go that McDaniel had an impressive knowledge and understanding of the game. His tactical awareness during his time as a player at Yale was evident and it's since been revealed that even as a walk-on, he would often chip in with ideas and suggestions in the dressing room and during training. "He would be like, 'This is not going to work. Look at the defense. And he was always right. And I was standing here like, he's got an uncanny ability to just understand the game for someone who's 20 years old," explained Ryan Allen, his roommate at Yale, to The Athletic. "And calling out what the coaches were doing incorrectly. And these guys are in their 40s, right? I started to think, 'He's got this football mind that I don't have, that I don't think anyone else has,'" continued Allen.

McDaniel's obsession with the game actually began as a child with the Denver Broncos and his time as a ballboy has also be cited as one of the reasons for sparking his tactical fascination for the game. In fact, an old interview he did on 'Broncos Tonight' after getting the job as a ball boy while still at high school has recently resurfaced online. "It's a dream come true", says McDaniels in the video- a comment which has particularly ammused fans given he's now head coach of the Miami Dolphins.

The interview has gained plenty of traction on Twitter for two reasons: firstly, because it shows his inspiring rise from a humble ball boy to becoming one of the most impressive young NFL coaches and secondly, because many fans have pointed out that he's the spitting image of comedian Pete Davidson in the video.
