Mel B has been claiming, ever since she split from her now-ex-husband Stephen Belafonte that she was abused! As a result, the star has decided to bring awareness to being in such a relationship by opening up about her story.
While chatting with an E! News reporter, the singer talked about having to once again go through all the drama in the past mentally, as she was writing her tell-all book titled Brutally Honest.
Mel also said that she actually asked many of her great pals and family members about the details of her abusive marriage since she was unable to remember a lot of it.
The star had apparently blocked it all from her memory since she developed PTSD.
When people would remind her about some things, she claims that she ‘would almost be defensive. I really thought I was hiding it so well.’
The only escape for Mel was her work since then she did not need to lie about her married life anymore and just focused on her creativity.
‘My work was my savior because he couldn’t come to my work,’ she added.
The woman is glad that she is out of that situation and that she can also talk about it so openly.

‘Very few people make it out without serious damage of the scars on the inside and the outside. I’m adamant to talk about it, and I’m adamant to be on my road to recovery and healing. You can only go back and try to heal yourself and try to piece back the pieces together.’
