Eddy Mazzoleni is an Italian former professional road bicycle racer who had represented teams such as Saeco (1996–1999, 2004), Team Polti (2000), Tacconi-Vini Caldirola (2001–2002), Sidermec-Saunier Duval (2003), Lampre-Caffita (2005), T-Mobile Team (2006), and Astana Team (2007). During his career, he had stood 1st in Stage 7 of the Regio-Tour (1995), Stage 3a of the Tour de Romandie (2000), Stage 6 of Tour de Suisse (2000), the Giro del Veneto (2005); 2nd in the Trofeo Laigueglia (1998, 2002), the Giro dell’Appennino (2000), the GP Primavera (2001), the Milano-Torino race (2004), the Klasika Primavera (2004); and 3rd in the Giro Della Provincia di Reggio Calabria (1998), the Giro di Lombardia (1999), Coppa Placci (2001), the GP Industria & Commercio di Prato (2001), the Milano-Torino race (2001), the Clásica de San Sebastián (2005), and the Giro d’Italia (2007).

He was named Eddy by his father after Belgian former professional road and track bicycle racing legend Édouard Louis Joseph aka Eddy Merckx who is widely acknowledged as the most successful rider in the history of competitive cycling.
His professional cycle racing career had come to an abrupt halt in July 2007 when he was removed from Astana Team after he was implicated in the infamous Italian Oil for Drugs case. The events linked to the case had started as far back as 2003 when a doctor named Carlo Santuccione and a number of his accomplices had started to administer prohibited doping products to professional and amateur athletes to enhance their performance as part of a doping network that was spread across Italy.
In December 2007, Carlo Santuccione was given a lifetime ban by the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI). Several sportspersons in Italy across various sporting codes also received hefty fines and lengthy bans. In April 2008, Eddy was handed a 2-year suspension due to his involvement in this case.
His name was also on the list of doping tests published by the French Senate, the upper house of the French Parliament, in July 2013. These tests were collected during the 1998 edition of the Tour de France which was marred by the Festina Affair, a series of doping scandals within the sport of professional cycling. This began when a large stash of doping products was seized from a support car belonging to the Festina cycling team just before the start of the race. Eddy had been found positive for EPO when his sample from 1998 was retested in 2004.
